The Big Bang Theory premiered on 24th September 2007 on CBS and it was concluded on the 16th of May in 2019 after broadcasting a total of 279 episodes and had a total of 12 seasons. The show was originally centered on 5 characters who were living in Pasadena, California named; Sheldon Cooper, Leonard Hofstadter who were both physicists at Caltech.

They shared an apartment; Penny, is a waitress who aspires to be an actress and lives across the hall. Finally, the last batch on the team were Sheldon and Leonard similarly socially awkward and geeky friends and co-workers.  Astrophysicist Raj Koothrappali and aerospace engineer Howard Wolowitz.

Over time, they promoted the supporting characters to starring roles including; microbiologist Bernadette Rostenkowski, comic book store owner Stuart Bloom, experimental physicist Leslie Winkle and neuroscientist Amy Farrah Fowler. This is a very unique show as it was aired in front of a live audience and Warner Bros. Television as well as Chuck Lorre Productions were in charge of production.

The series received mixed reviews but most of the people loved the show more. Seven seasons of Big Bang Theory have been ranked in the final television rating and takes among the top ten. Eventually, during the 11th season, it reached position 1. Evolution

The first episode was premiered on 24th of September 2007 but this was not the first pilot but the second as they has produced the first pilot for the 2006-07 television season but unfortunately, it was never aired. The first unaired pilot was quite different from the current form. This means that there was change even in the characters.

However, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) were retained in both pilots and they are named after Sheldon Leonard who is a longtime figure as producer, actor and director in episodic television. A minor character, Vernee Watson who is cast as Althea was featured in the first scene of the first and second pilots and was generally retained as-is.

James Burrows was the director of both the first and the second pilots but he did not continue with the show. The reworked second pilot was so good that CBS ordered 13-episodes on 14th of May in 2007. Before it was aired on CBS, they had distributed the pilot episode to iTunes free of charge. On 24th September 2007, it remains an important day in the history of the show as it is the day when the first episode was aired.

On 19th October 2007, they picked up a full 22-episode season but unfortunately, on 6th of November in 2007, they had to halt the production as the Writers Guild of America had a strike. On 4th of February 2008, three months later, a short-lived sitcom titled Welcome to The Captain temporarily replaced the series. Fortunately, the series returned on 17th of March in 2008.
