Shumpert started his professional basketball career in 2011 after he was drafted with the 17th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft. He was playing for the New York Knicks. He was traded for the Sacramento Kings in the 2018-2019 season. In 2019, he was acquired by Huston Rockets. He signed with the Brooklyn Nets on 13 November 2019 following the suspension of Wilson Chandler. Chandler’s suspension expired on 12 December, and Shumpert was waived by the Nets.
