In 1990, Stricker turned pro and started his career on the Canadian Professional Golf Circuit, where he won two tournaments. Stricker first had success on the PGA Tour in 1996, when he won two tournaments (Kemper Open, Motorola Western Open) and finished in the top ten seven times on his way to finishing fourth on the 1996 PGA Tour money list. In the final round of the PGA Championship at Sahalee Country Club near Seattle in 1998, Stricker put himself in contention. Vijay Singh, a PGA Tour veteran, beat Stricker down the stretch thanks to a back-nine surge and won by two strokes.
Stricker’s second-place finish is his highest in a major championship to date. Stricker has six top-20 finishes at the US Open, the highest of which was a fifth-place finish at Pinehurst No. 2 in 1999.
