Inception

Skiba, Doran formed the band, and Glenn Porter in December 1996 and the first single released by the band was Sundials, and they released it in 1997. But soon after this Rob Doran left this group, and then Dan Andriano joined the group, Dan was the former singer of the famous Asian Man Records band Tuesday.

He was also a bassist. Soon they released their second song which was entitled as “For Your Lungs Only”. Soon in the year 1998, they released their first album, and it was titled Goddamnit. This was released on Asian Man Records and so was the Maybe I’ll Catch Fire. Soon the band released some of the songs that were recorded earlier.

Evolution

In 2001, “From Here to Infirmary” was released by the band and then released on Vagrant Records.  This album was a huge success as it soon reached the Billboard Top 200 charts and it made money in six figures, and it was the first album to do so for the band.

Then the trio again released another album which was Good Mourning, and it was then released in 2003. This album was again a huge success, and it provided a great number of production values. The band then collaborated with many other bands, and it soon came on many compilation albums.

Soon the Alkaline Trio released more and more songs, and they released their fifth studio album under Vagrant Records in 2005. Then in 2006, the side project of Skiba was also released which was the Patent Pending, and it was a full-fledged album.

In October 2006, the band announced that they had signed up with V2 Records, and they were going to focus on their digital distribution. Then they released the Remains alum in 2007, and many live performances were done on the same.

In May 2007 it was revealed by the band using MySpace that they were now listing their music under Epic Records.

In 2009 while performing in concert, it was revealed by the band that they were no longer signed up with Epic Records, and now they would be releasing new albums and songs under their label. So they announced in 2009 that they would be releasing albums under a newly formed label and ventures, Heart & Skull which was formed with a joint venture with Epitaph Records.

In December the trio then confirmed that they would release a new album This Addiction under this album. This album was a huge success, and it debuted under No. 11 on the Billboard 200, which was the highest position achieved by this band ever. In 2012, Dan confirmed that the trio would begin recording the next studio album in October.

The band did a tour in 2014, and it was an anthology tour. The band’s ninth album production was postponed as Skiba has to work with some of the projects with Blink-182 and the Trio even opened for the Misfits in December in 2017.

Skiba had throat surgery in 2018, which was why they were not able to perform at the Self Help Festival, which was on March 3. Soon the band’s night studio album, Is This Thing Cursed was announced in 2018.

Later on March 19, 2020, three new songs were released by the band, and later they had to postpone their tour due to Covid-19 Pandemic. Skiba then announced on his Instagram that he was writing more music.
