Tyler and her colleague Reggie Harris became one of the first African –American team that has ever anchored a newscast in New York. Tyler had the opportunity to work with some off the best television anchors such as Chris Wragge, John Johnson, Ernie Anastos, and Brian Williams amongst others.

In 1996, she was amongst the lucky people who were not fired when the station was carrying out a major stuff reduction she remained in her post.
