In the 2001-02 season, he was traded alongside Harold Jamison to the Cleveland Cavaliers to replace Andre Miller and Bryant Stith. It was revealed that Miles’s injury prompted him to end his career. He, however, had an option to join another team and revert the $18 million that the Blazers hoped to get if Miles was to play ten games. He was suspended for ten games for substance abuse which was against the league’s policy.

He was offered a non-guaranteed contract by Boston Celtics on 22 August 2008 but waived on 20 October before the start of the season. He then signed with Memphis Grizzlies on 13 December 2008.
