Jabbawockeez was started by Kevin “KB” Brewer, Joe Tarot, and Phil Tayag. They performed wearing masks and gloves, a style adopted from Medea Sirkas, a Francisco strutting crew. They did not select any leader for their group as they argued that when you watch, you watch them collectively.

The name Jabbawockeez was coined by Joe Larot, which he got from Lewis Carroll’s nonsense poem, Jabberwocky. They came up with a signature to put on white masks and gloves.
