Professional Career

Peppers was invited to the NFL Combine and participated as both a linebacker and a safety. Except for the short shuttle and three-cone drill, he ran all combine and positional exercises. Among the linebackers, he ran the fastest 40-yard sprint. At Michigan’s Pro Day, he just took part in positional drills.

Peppers was taken in the first round (25th overall) in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. After Jamal Adams (6th overall) and Malik Hooker, Peppers was the third safety selected in 2017. (15th overall).

Peppers signed a four-year, $10.7 million contract with the Cleveland Browns on July 22, 2017, which included a $5.6 million signing bonus. After the Browns acquired Damarious Randall, defensive coordinator Gregg Williams decided to shift Peppers back to strong safety. Peppers fought with Derrick Kindred for the starting strong safety position.

Peppers was a captain on the special teams unit for the 2020 season.
