Louis Sebastian Theroux, the son of American travel writer and novelist Paul Theroux and his English then-wife Anne (née Castle), was born in Singapore on May 20, 1970. He is a dual citizen of the United Kingdom and the United States. Marcel, his older brother, is a writer and television host. Justin, his cousin, is a playwright and actor. Theroux is the nephew of Alexander Theroux, a novelist, and Peter Theroux, a writer.
