It was on 4^th of April in 1975 when Paul Allen and Bill Gates decided to develop and sell what they referred to as BASIC interpreters for the Altair 8800. The duos intention was to make money using their computer programming skills. In 1972, the two founded Traf-O-Data which vended a rudimentary computer good in tracking and analyzing automobile traffic data.

Allen decided to join Washington State University to pursue a degree in computer science while Bill Gates enrolled at Harvard University.
