Alvin Nathaniel Joiner professionally known as Xzibit was born on September 18, 1974. He was born in Detroit Michigan where he lived with his parents and his four siblings. His father later left the family and remarried. His mother died in 1984 and Alvin was forced to relocate to Albuquerque, New Mexico to live with his father.
He grew up writing lyrics as a form of grief for losing his mother and the numerous minor incarcerations.
