Hart was born on 2 July 1957 to wrestling patriarch Stu Edward and his wife Helen Smith in Calgary, a city in the western Canadian province of Alberta as the eighth of the eleven children the couple had. His family is of Greek descent through his maternal grandmother’s side and Irish through his maternal grandfather’s side.
His maternal grandfather Harry Smith was a long-distance runner. Stu Edward is of Scottish-Irish and Scottish-English descent.
