Inception
Twice was formed in 2015 by JYP Entertainment but the members of the group were decided by a girl group survival show, “Sixteen”. Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, and Chaeyoung were initially selected as the group’s members. Tzuyu and Momo were later added to the group thereby making it a nine-member group.
On the 20th of October 2015, they released their debut EP, “The Story Begins” which eventually captured the 3rd position on the Gaon Album Chart while the album’s lead single, “Like Ooh-Ahh” which eventually captured the 10th position on the Gaon Digital Chart. In 2016, Twice released their second EP, “Page Two” which turned out to be a huge commercial success. In 2018, they also released their Japanese single, “Wake Me Up”, which was certified Double Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ).
